This historical tour explores the roots of the Polish state, beginning with Ostrów Tumski in Poznań, the island where Poland’s first rulers established one of their most important strongholds. Highlights include the Poznań Cathedral, the oldest cathedral in Poland and burial place of the first Piast rulers, as well as the Genius Loci Archaeological Reserve, which presents archaeological remains and reconstructions of the early medieval settlement and ducal centre.
The journey then continues to Lednica, the heart of the early Piast realm. At Ostrów Lednicki, visitors will explore the remains of a 10th-century stronghold with unique stone palatial and religious architecture, believed to be closely connected with Mieszko I and the baptism of Poland in 966. The site, surrounded by Lednica Lake, offers exceptional insight into the political, religious, and cultural foundations of the early Polish state and its integration into Christian Europe.

During the conference, participants and accompanying persons can enjoy complimentary walking tours of Poznań, provided by the Poznań Local Tourism Organization. More details will be shared during the conference.
